Roland
Fischer’s work represents a clearing of the space of photography. By
clearing (lichtung), we mean both a place where light can enter – aprivileged
idea of the poet Paul Clean and of Heidegger – and the act of creating
an opening, conceptually or physically. The light Fischer bringsis to the
relation of photography and its objects. The space he creates is a realm of
independent appearances, in which the visual disposition of the image
takes precedence over its source. This brings us, as viewers, into a new
relation with reality-based images, and with representation itself.
Roland Fischer presenta «New Architectures» en la galeria Max Estrella de Madrid, a partir del 26 de Mayo, una exposicion y estudio de la Arquitectura Contemporanea. Edificios de arquitectos tan representivos como Luis Barragan en Mexico, le Corbusier, Siza, Calatrava, Niemeyer…analizados por la vision reveladora del artista.

The
Goethe-Institut Hong Kong presents German photographer Roland Fischer’s works from May 2 to June 7, 2008. Selected photos from Fischer’s «Chinese Pool portraits» and «Facades» series shown earlier at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich will be on display at the Goethe-Gallery.

Roland Fischer （罗兰）多年来一直用观念摄影的语言，来描述他深刻的洞察力。他这几年来，制作的建筑幕墙系列，集体肖像系列，游泳池肖像系列，在世界各地展
出，并得到艺术界的广泛好评。作品被众多美术馆和公共机构收藏。他多次被摄影杂志评为德国十个最重要的当代摄影艺术家之一。
这次的《中国游泳池肖像系列》是Roland Fischer(罗兰)对于他自上世纪90年代在国际上享有盛名的摄影作品《洛杉机肖像系列》的延续和革新。摄影选在北京和上海两
地，模特们以女性为主，有少数男性，他们分别来自于中国各地。这一系列的肖像不再仅仅是人物的面部，而是被蓝色池水围绕的半身像。随着模特体态和头部姿态的变化
，从远处看，他们的面容呈现出各种各样不同的有的似神秘有的似梦幻的感觉。《中国游泳池肖像系列》中的人物像是与世隔绝的个体，从他们身上看不出他们的社会身份
和职业。从西方人的角度看，亚洲人都是很相似的，Roland Fischer(罗兰)通过他独特的摄影语言为观众介绍了每个人物不同的个性。
《中国游泳池肖像系列》以一种无拘无束,充满活力的方式表现了自信、努力奋斗的青年一代的某种强烈的愿望。
展览还将展出艺术家曾经在中国制作的肖像作品。

«After his series Los Angeles Portraits, Roland Fischer shows news pool portraits realised in China. If the visual appearance and the selection of models stay similar, this new work is an indepth analysis of the previous series as an exemplary change of his artistic pratice. Fischer has been interested in China for many years as the serie Façades realised in this country shows it. On his new images, the shoulders emerge from the water, the faces stand out against a turquoise background on a composition without reference. The models appear in the frontal way without pose, fixed gazes, turned to the camera without look at it. These figures have “an over physical presence but as an absence on the world”. Without retouch, the portraits are separated from the reality. «Chinese Pool Portraits» Roland Fischer fotografía mujeres de China, especialmente de Shanghai y Beijing, siguiendo la estetica de «Los Angeles Portraits» de 1990, pero con algunos cambios. Si en los retratos realizados a mujeres y algunos hombres de la alta sociedad de los Angeles estos miran de frente a la camara, sus accesorios y peinados los contextualizan y refuerzan la pertenencia a un grupo….
Esta vez el artista presenta los retratos tambien sumergidos en la piscina, tambien rodeados del mismo color azul pero de una manera diferente. Observadas alrededor desde otra altura, las posturas ladeadas de la cabeza, sus miradas ausentes, y aisladas de su condicion social, reafirman su individualidad. Sus caracteristicas personales, dibujan fondos diferentes, contextos diferentes.
